The applicant has 24 years experience in power plant critical pumps and associated equipment and mechanical engineering.
Willem joined Eskom in July 1982 as a Pupil technician.
Willem joined the Turbine Plant Engineering Department in Megawatt Park as a Technologist in training, after completing his Masters Diploma in Technology in July 1987.
Upon his return from Switzerland in January 1988, Willem then worked in the Turbine Plant Engineering Department in Megawatt Park.
Willem was appointed as a Technologist in July 1989 and Senior Technologist in December 1992.
Willem then joined the Generation Technical Audit Department in Megawatt Park in March 1994.

During March 1995 Willem joined the Mechanical Technology Department (Technology Solutions International Eskom) in Rosherville and was appointed as Senior Consultant in April 1995 and Chief Consultant (S2) in March 1999
During this period he completed his GDE (Mechanical Engineering) and also completed his research project entitled Boiler Feed Water Pump pre-warming which was submitted for a MSc (Mechanical Engineering) qualification which he obtained in December 1997.
In January 2005, Willem joined Sulzer Pumps (South Africa) as a Senior Design Engineer in the Engineering Department.
In October 2005 Willem registered his own Consultancy CC – OPTIMUM PUMPING SOLUTIONS CC and then worked as an Independent Pump Consultant.
Appointed as a Pump Consultant in the New Eskom Business Engineering Department in January 2006.
